Who we are

The Solution is a family calendar app published by Canton & Co. LLC, an Ohio limited liability company located in Cleveland, Ohio. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Canton & Co. LLC, and "the app" means The Solution for iOS and Android.

Information the app handles

Calendar data

When you connect a Google Account, the app reads and writes calendar events using Google's Calendar API. That data is stored locally on your device so the app works quickly and offline. It is not transmitted to Canton & Co. LLC and we have no ability to view it.

Google Account credentials

Authorization tokens issued by Google are stored in your device's secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). We never see your Google password. You can disconnect an account at any time in the app, and you can revoke the app's access from your Google Account permissions page.

Theme generation

If you use the optional AI theme feature, the short prompt you type (for example, "ocean") is sent directly to Anthropic's API using an API key you provide yourself in Settings. It is not sent to us. See "AI and machine learning" below for the full explanation.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple and Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase occurred so the app can unlock. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Household, photos and settings

Household members. When you invite someone, we store their email address so they can join when they sign in with Google. We also store an id from Google that identifies your account. We also store the name shown for each person in the household, the household's name, and the ids of the calendars each person shares (not their events). We do not store calendar events.

Household photos. Photos you add are stored on our server as smaller copies with location data removed, so the people in your household can see them. Only members of your household can see them. When you remove a photo, or the household is deleted, the photo is deleted.

Settings that follow you. So a new device looks like your phone, we store your app settings: which calendars are shown and the names and colours you gave them, hidden-event rules, your theme, custody colouring rules and photo frame options. Event contents are never stored.

Sharing calendars in a household happens through Google Calendar's own sharing. We do not copy calendars.

Support email

If you email us, we have your message and your email address. We use it to answer you and nothing else.

What we do not do

• We do not ask you to create an account. Signing in with Google is enough.
• We do not sell or rent personal information.
• We do not use your calendar data for advertising or to train machine learning models.
• We do not include third-party advertising or tracking software in the app. The only usage counting is our own, described under "Anonymous usage" below.

AI and machine learning

The Solution never sends your Google Calendar data, or any other personal data, to any AI or machine-learning service, for any reason.

The one optional AI-powered feature in the app, generating a custom theme from a text description, sends only the short prompt you type (for example, "autumn harvest colors") to Anthropic's API, using an API key you provide yourself in Settings. That request never includes your calendar data, your Google account, or anything else from the app. Your key is stored only on your device and is sent only to Anthropic, never to us.

Anonymous usage

The Solution counts how its features are used so we can see what to fix: things like 'the app was opened today', 'a theme was generated', 'the paywall was shown'. These counts are tied to a random install id and your anonymous purchase id, never to your name, email, calendars or events. You can turn this off in Settings under Display, More, 'Share anonymous usage'. Turning it off also deletes anything not yet sent. We keep raw counts for 400 days.

Google API Services disclosure

The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, calendar data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the calendar features you see in the app, is not transferred to others except as required by law, and is not used for advertising.

Children

The app is designed to be used by families, including on a shared kitchen display. It does not require anyone to create an account and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Any calendar information a child sees is the family calendar data already stored on your device.

Your choices

• Disconnect any connected Google Account from within the app.
• Revoke access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• Delete the app. Because calendar data is stored on your device, removing the app removes the local copy.
• Leave the household in Settings to end your membership and, if you choose, delete the photos you added. Remove your Google account in Settings to delete your saved settings from our server.

Security

Your calendar data stays on your device and is protected by your device's own security, including the passcode or biometric lock you have set. Keeping your device locked and updated is the most effective protection for this data. What we store on our server is encrypted in transit and access is limited to your household.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how information is handled, we will update this page and change the effective date above.
